Netherlands October 2018: Jaguar and Volvo defy market down 19%

New car sales in the Netherlands are still reeling from post-WLTP hangover at -19% in October to 30.079 units, meaning the year-to-date volume is now up 8% at 389.444. Volkswagen (-27%) rallies back up 7 spots on last month to reclaim the top spot it holds year-to-date despite falling faster than the market, with Peugeot (-14%) and Opel (-19%) rounding up the podium. Only Volvo (+26%), BMW (+14%) and Skoda (+0.3%) manage to gain ground year-on-year in the Top 10, while Renault (-55%), Ford (-21%) and Toyota (-18%) are hit hard. Further down, Tesla (+99%), Jaguar (+94%), Honda (+59%), Seat (+16%), Mini (+10%), Mitsubishi (+9%) and Nissan (+8%) stand out. Model-wise, the Kia Picanto (+34%) snaps the top spot for the 2nd time this year after last February, distancing the Ford Fiesta (+18%) and Peugeot 108 (+56%) meaning the entire podium is going well agains the grain with double-digit gains. The VW Golf (-23%) is back up 37 spots on September to #4, while the VW Polo (+156%) and Opel Karl (+45%) also shine just below. In contrast, the VW Up (-57%), Renault Clio (-41%) and Ford Focus (-35%) all dive. The Volvo XC40 (#19) is the best-selling recent launch (<12 months) ahead of the Skoda Karoq (#42) and Jaguar i-Pace (#53) up 106 spots on last month.
