New Caledonia (France) September 2018: Toyota up 70%, Hilux up 82%

New Caledonia is a French Overseas archipelago located north-east of Australia. New car sales here gain 7.9% to 712 units in September, yet the year-to-date tally remains in negative at -1.9% and 6.353 sales. Keep in mind New Caledonian sales aren’t included in our monthly French updates that only represents Metropolitan France. Toyota surges 70% on September 2017 to reclaim the brands top spot it holds YTD, distancing Ford (+3%), Citroen (+31%), Renault (+7%) and Hyundai (+74%) all in positive but showing varied fortunes. Notice also Dodge (+140%), Mazda (+71%), Isuzu (+47%), Suzuki (+47%) and Fiat (+38%) posting the most spectacular gains among carmakers lodging double-digit sales figures this month. Model-wise, the Toyota Hilux shoots up 82% to hit a round 10% share vs. 5.3% YTD, eclipsing the Ford Ranger (+46%), Dacia Duster (+3%) and Isuzu D-Max (+47%) while the Hyundai i10 (+433%), Hyundai Creta (+113%), Citroen Berlingo (+100%) and Renault Kangoo (+100%) post the largest gains in the Top 10.
