Thanks to our partnership with SMMT we can share with you the Top 10 best-sellers for all UK nations in July. Keep in mind this is a zoom in by nation, all sales figures are already included in the July 2018 UK update. Wales (+9.6%) at 5.617 sales and Scotland (+8.2%) at 11.643 units are the best performers this month with England (+0.5%) only edging up at 142.141 units and Northern Ireland (-2.5%) the only UK nation in negative at 3.714 sales. Year-to-date, all nations are in negative, with once again Wales (-3.1%) resisting best at 49.018 followed by Northern Ireland (-3.4%) at 34.706, England (-5.3%) at 1.277.017 and Scotland (-8.2%) the weakest performer at 113.516.

…as does the VW T-Roc at #9 in Scotland.

Like in June, the Ford Fiesta is #1 in 3 nations this month: in England and Wales but replacing its Northern Irish victory in June by a throne in Scotland. Instead, the Nissan Qashqai manages to snap its first monthly victory in Northern Ireland in four years and the third in 5 after October 2013 and July 2014. The Qashqai is also #3 in Scotland while four additional nameplates manage a podium ranking this month: the VW Polo #2 in Scotland and Wales, the Ford Kuga #2 in Northern Ireland and #3 in Wales, the VW Golf #2 in England and the Vauxhall Corsa #3 in England.

The Nissan Qashqai scores its first monthly win in 4 years in Northern Ireland.

The big event in the UK nation sales charts in July is the very first Top 10 of two successful nameplates but the most surprising is without a doubt the MG ZS. Now under Chinese ownership (SAIC), MG has been attempting a return to UK shores and the China-made ZS crossover looks like it’s giving it its best shot so far. The ZS brilliantly ranks #10 in Wales in July with 1.7% market share. Note no MG nameplate has even managed to end the year in the annual UK Top 10, with the MGB ranking at an estimated #19 in 1973 with a record 13.755 sales. The VW T-Roc, breaking into the Scottish Top 10 at #9, was more expected given its wide success across Europe. Other great July performers include the Suzuki Vitara up to #4 in Wales, the Audi A1 up to #5 in Scotland, Toyota Yaris up to #5 in Northern Ireland, Kia Picanto up to #6 in Wales and Suzuki Swift up to #10 in Wales.
