Based on data published by our Central European data partner CE Auto, the Serbian new car market is up 14.6% year-on-year in May to 3.400 units, meaning the year-to-date tally is now up 7.1% to 14.028. The locally-produced Fiat 500L reclaims the top spot it has been holding every year since 2015 after a 7 month-drought: it hadn’t been the best-selling car in Serbia since last September. It however drops by a steep 18% year-on-year whereas the Skoda Octavia soars 57% and holds onto the YTD lead for now with sales up 29% to 643 vs. -29% and 618 for the 500L. The Rapid (#3) and Superb (#4) make it an incredible three Skoda’s in the Top 4. The Peugeot 208 makes its first appearance in the Top 10 since BSCB started following Serbia monthly in 2013, at #8.
