Ramadan pushed the release of May data for Indonesia by a few weeks but data is now in. New car wholesales soar 6.8% year-on-year to 100.494 units, lifting the year-to-date volume up 5.9% to 494.917. In the brands ranking, Toyota is very close to its YTD share at 28.8% vs. 28.9% while Daihatsu (17.6%) manages to climb back above Mitsubishi (16.9%) with Honda (14.3%) and Suzuki (12.5%) also above 10% share as usual. Below Hino and Isuzu, Chinese and local producer since 2017 Wuling steps up one spot further to #8, distancing Datsun, Mazda and Nissan. Model-wise, the Mitsubishi Xpander manages to score a 4th consecutive month in pole position thanks to a new record monthly volume at 7.601 and its best share since last February at 7.6%, thus widening its YTD gap over the market leader over the past decade, the Toyota Avanza, to 1.860 sales. The Avanza even sinks to #3 this month below the Toyota Calya. The Suzuki Ertiga leaps up to #6 thanks to its facelift, the Suzuki Carry Pikap is up to #10, the Honda Mobilio up to #12 and the Suzuki Ignis up to #17.
