Uruguay May 2018: Volkswagen, Fiat and Suzuki in photo finish
Suzuki gains 35% and ranks equal #2 in May.

4th consecutive month of decline for new car sales in Uruguay in May at a steep -19.9% to 3.818 registrations, leading to a year-to-date volume down 9.1% to 19.311. Volkswagen (-33%) remains on top at 14.4% share despite a harsh drop but it’s a photo finish on the podium with Fiat (-3%) and Suzuki (+35%) equal 2nd only 8 sales below VW. Renault surges 43% year-on-year but drops two spots on April to #4, however remaining in the YTD lead at 14.8% share (+77%). Nissan (+6%) is the only other manufacturer to lodge a positive result in the Top 10, with Citroen (-4%) resisting while Chevrolet tumbles down 65% at #6. Further down, notice Jeep (+111%), JAC (+63%) and Mercedes (+48%) posting fantastic gains.
