Portugal April 2018: Renault down 13%, Peugeot up 25% in market up 14.1%

New car sales in Portugal soar 14.1% year-on-year in April to 21.481 registrations, lifting the year-to-date volume up 7.6% to 84.710. Renault easily remains the most popular carmaker in the country but sinks by a steep 13% to 11.8% share for the month, whereas #2 Peugeot surges 25% to 10.2%, distancing Volkswagen (+2%), Fiat (+24%) and Opel (+26%). BMW (+8%) and Mercedes (+1%) lose share year-on-year but in the tail end of the Top 10 Toyota (+70%), Seat (+45%) and Citroen (+39%) all post spectacular gains. Below, Jeep (+3100%), Mitsubishi (+123%), Hyundai (+95%), Honda (+90%), Jaguar (+83%), Maserati (+67%), Lexus (+64%), Porsche (+64%) and Alfa Romeo (+45%) shine. Model-wise, the Renault Clio continues to reign supreme despite a 3% drop ahead of the Peugeot 208 (-16%) returning to #2 YTD. The VW Polo (+48%), Peugeot 308 (+83%) and Opel Corsa (+26%) all surge ahead in the remainder of the Top 5, while the Toyota C-HR (+256%), Peugeot 3008 (+150%), Toyota Yaris (+72%), Fiat 500 (+54%), Punto (+39%) and Seat Ibiza (+29%) also impress in the Top 25. The Opel Crossland X tops recent launches at #31 ahead of the Seat Arona (#35), Citroen C3 Aircross (#37) and Kia Stonic (#55).
