Bulgaria May 2018: Renault and Skoda shine in market up 15.5%

Skoda sales are up 65% year-on-year in Bulgaria in May.

The Bulgarian new car market surges 15.5% year-on-year in May to 3.536 registrations, lifting the year-to-date tally up 18.6% to 17.109 units. Renault soars 31% to 13.2% share, holding onto the top spot above sister brand Dacia (+6%) at 10.1%, one sale ahead of Skoda (+65%). Kia (+7%), Toyota (+18%) and Volkswagen (+26%) follow, with Mercedes (+124%), Citroen (+84%) and Nissan (+56%) the most impressive just below whereas BMW (-33%), Peugeot (-33%) and Opel (-23%) are hit hard. Among smaller carmakers, Jeep (+633%), Mitsubishi (+250%), Jaguar (+150%), Seat (+83%), Mazda (+66%) and Honda (+47%) all post spectacular gains.
