Belgium May 2018: VW Tiguan and Renault Scenic up

New car sales in Belgium gain 7.1% year-on-year in May to 54.999 units, lifting the YTD volume up 3.2% to 275.158. The two best-selling carmakers in the country both frankly outpace the market: Volkswagen soars 23% to 10.8% share while Renault is up 19% to 10.2%. Peugeot (+3%) rounds up the podium as it does YTD, ahead of Mercedes (+2%), BMW (-18%), Opel (-5%) and Audi (-1%). Dacia (+5%) surges 5 spots on March to #8, Fiat soars 36% to #11, with Jeep (+293%), Alfa Romeo (+66%), Seat (+66%), Mitsubishi (+47%), Jaguar (+45%), Subaru (+33%), Mazda (+29%), Smart (+21%) and Nissan (+18%) also impressive. Alpine returns at #38 with 7 sales for the month.
The Top 10 models for May are now available thanks to our partnership with JATO Dynamics. The VW Golf (+23%) and Renault Clio (+16%) hold onto the top two spots with very solid year-on-year gains while the VW Tiguan surges 94% to land on the third step of the podium vs. #7 both in April and YTD. The Renault Scenic for its part returns inside the YTD Top 10 at #9 thanks to a splendid 4th place in May.
