Moldova April 2018: Toyota RAV4 surprise leader

The Toyota RAV4 snaps its first pole position in Moldova.

According to our Central European market data partner CE Auto, the Moldovan new car market is up 12.8% year-on-year in April to 486 registrations, lifting the year-to-date tally up 26.8% to 1.852 units. We have a surprise in pole position: for the first time since BSCB started following Moldova monthly in 2013, the Toyota RAV4 is the best-seller in the country thanks to deliveries up 92% year-on-year to 5.1% share. The RAV4 ranked #2 four times in the past five years: in April 2014, July and August 2015 and November 2017. Moldova’s traditional leader, the Dacia Logan, is dow 34% to rank #2 but cements its YTD pole position with sales up 45% so far in 2018. The Dacia Duster rounds up the podium above the Dacia Dokker, Hyundai Tucson and Toyota Corolla. Notice also the Renault Kadjar at #8.
