Denmark April 2018: Volkswagen, Mercedes, Audi shine, market up 6.3%

The Danish new car market rallies back to positive territory in April at +6.3% to 18.718 units, yet the YTD tally is down 2.4% to 75.675, still the 2nd best ever result after four months. Brand leader Volkswagen sails off with deliveries soaring 20% year-on-year to 16.2% share vs. 14.1% YTD. Peugeot (+3%), Toyota (+15%) and Citroen (+2%) follow, replicating the YTD order. Mercedes (+26%) and Audi (+25%) are the best performers in the remainder of the Top 10, with Skoda (+8%) also beating the market but Suzuki (-8%) and Ford (-5%) drop. Jeep (+200%), Subaru (+173%), Jaguar (+128%), Nissan (+75%), Tesla (+75%), Volvo (+51%), Mini (+28%), Fiat (+21%), Land Rover (+20%), Alfa Romeo (+19%) and BMW (+19%) also shine further down. Model-wise, the Peugeot 208 (-2%) reclaims its traditional top spot, distancing three VWs: the Golf (+47%), Polo (-24%) and Up (+12%). The rest of the Top 10 all outpace the market: the Skoda Fabia (+137%), Nissan Qashqai (+61%), VW Passat (+50%), Toyota Yaris (+47%), Citroen C3 (+28%) and Toyota Aygo (+16%). The VW T-Roc tops all recent launches at #26 above the Opel Crossland X (#50) and Citroen C3 Aircross (#52).
