Slovakia January 2018: Kia Sportage up 231% to 4th place

New car sales in Slovakia shoot up by a brilliant 48.8% year-on-year to 8.050 registrations. Leader Skoda (+40%) trails the market again but manages a market share (21.7%) two percentage points above its FY17 level. Volkswagen (+35%) follows at its usual 2nd spot but in third place we find Kia (+86%) ahead of Peugeot (+51%), both overtaking Hyundai (+70%) vs. the FY17 ranking. Inside the Top 10, Suzuki (+110%), Toyota (+65%), Citroen (+56%) and BMW (+50%) also beat the market while beyond, Mini (+414%), Volvo (+286%), Lada (+262%), Nissan (+147%), Land Rover (+104%), Subaru (+83%), Jeep (+73%), Audi (+71%), Mazda (+71%), Dacia (+65%) and Jaguar (+64%) also shine.
Thanks to our partnership with JATO Dynamics we can share with you also models data: after dropping to #2 in the annual ranking for the first time since 2014, the Skoda Fabia reclaims the top spot in January thanks to deliveries surging 76% year-on-year to 7.8% share, a comfortable margin above the Skoda Octavia up 6% to 5.5% all the while the Skoda Rapid (+1%) rounds up the podium at 3.2% share. Stunning performance of the Kia Sportage up 231% on January 2017 to become the best-selling non-Skoda nameplate in the country in January, followed by the VW Golf (+70%) and the Kia Cee’d (+17%). Below the Suzuki Vitara up 69%, the Skoda Kodiaq celebrates one year in market by snatching its very first monthly Top 10 finish at #8. The Hyundai i30 (+86%) and Tucson (+60%) also impress.
