Ecuador Full Year 2017: Chevrolet dominates market up 65.3%

After two years of steep decline, the Ecuadorian new vehicle market rebounds spectacularly in 2017 with sales up 65.3% to 105.077 units based on data published by the AEDE, the Asociacion de Empresas Automotrices del Ecuador. This includes 82.855 passenger cars, up 84.9% year-on-year according to OICA. Chevrolet continues to dominate the market head and shoulders but trails the market at +45% to 39.1% share, ahead of Kia surging 115% to 17.3%, Hyundai up 92% to 9% and Great Wall up 150% to 6.5%, all frankly outpacing the market. Toyota (+63%), Nissan (+44%), Sino (+54%) and Ford (+55%) follow whereas Mazda (-23%) is the only carmaker to lose ground in the Top 25. Notice also Chinese Chery (#12), JAC (#13), Dongfeng (#15), FAW (#20), BYD (#21), Foton (#22) and Lifan (#24) all managing to rank inside the Top 25.
