The Argentinian new car market shoots up 19.6% year-on-year in February to 68.406 registrations, a new all-time record for the month lifting the year-to-date tally up 24.8% to a record 187.300 units after just two months. Toppled by Renault in January, Volkswagen reclaims its traditional pole position this month but vastly trails the market at just +9% to 16.2% share. Renault shines at +35%, distancing Chevrolet (+12%) and Ford (+17%) while Fiat (+48%) posts the largest gain in the Top 10 followed closely by Nissan (+45%). Further down, Smart (+543%), Jeep (+164%), Audi (+88%), Kia (+40%) and Hyundai (+35%) impress but once again it is Chinese carmakers that post some of the most spectacular gains: Chery (+64%), Lifan (+138%), Geely (+856%) and Dongfeng (+1975%) all evolve frankly higher than their respective 2017 levels, with Chinese manufacturers as a whole up a whopping 118% to 1.4% share.
The Renault Kwid breaks into the Argentinean Top 10 for the first time.
Over in the models ranking, the freshly facelifted Toyota Etios posts its first ever win in Argentina thanks to deliveries up 26% to 3.9% share. The race for the February title was extremely tight with the Etios distancing the Toyota Hilux by just 32 units, the VW Gol by 41 and the Chevrolet Onix (+47%) by 54. Year-to-date, the Onix holds onto the top spot thanks to a very strong January result. The Fiat Palio (+26%), Peugeot 208 (+31%), Chevrolet Prisma (+38%) and Renault Kangoo (+39%) all beat the market inside the Top 10. For its 4th month of sales, the Renault Kwid breaks into the Argentinean Top 10 for the first time at #10. Other great performers include the VW Polo (+405%), Ford Ka (+137%), Jeep Renegade (+137%), Renault Captur (+85%) and Fiat Mobi (+83%).
