Serbia Full Year 2017: Fiat 500L maintains lead for 3rd year in a row

According to our Central European data partner CE Auto, the Serbian new car market is up 8.5% to 29.516 registrations in 2017. Local publication Vrelegume.rs has this figure at 28.962 (+6.5%). Local producer Fiat remains the most popular brand in the country but drops 9% to see its share fall from 15.9% to 13.6%. Second-placed Skoda also loses share at 12.3% due to sales down 5%. Reversely, Volkswagen soars 22% to 9.2% but this is not enough to lift from #3. Renault (-1%) rounds up a Top 4 unchanged on 2016, while Ford is up two spots and 14% to #5, overtaking Opel (-7%) and Dacia (+4%). Land Rover (+254%), Mercedes (+98%), Volvo (+71%), Citroen (+65%), Jaguar (+65%), BMW (+39%), Nissan (+36%), Audi (+32%), Alfa Romeo (+30%), Mini (+26%), Peugeot (+19%) and Toyota (+17%) all impress.

Over in the models ranking, the Fiat 500L – assembled locally in the Kragujevac Fiat factory – is the best-seller for the third consecutive year and the 4th time in the past five years with very stable sales at -0.2% to 5.8% share. Its follower the Skoda Octavia also drops just 0.2% year-on-year for a 4.1% share. The Dacia Sandero is up 9% and two spots to land on the third step of the podium, distancing the Skoda Fabia (+3%) while the Rapid breaks into the annual Serbian Top 5, making it three Skodas in the Top 5 and, with the Superb at #7, four in the Top 7.
