Slovakia September 2017: Skoda Octavia overtakes Fabia for YTD lead

The Skoda Octavia now leads the YTD charts in Slovakia.

The Slovak new car market edges up 0.7% year-on-year in September to 7.177 registrations, leading to a year-to-date volume up 10.1% to 71.335. The big event this month in Slovakia is the Skoda Octavia overtaking its sibling the Fabia to snap the YTD lead thanks to sales up 40% to 7.4% in September vs. -23% and 5.3% for the Fabia. This puts the Octavia 63 sales above the Fabia after nine months, and if it maintains itself in the pole position until the end of the year it would be the first time since 2014 that the Octavia wins the annual ranking in Slovakia. The Skoda Rapid remains in third place in both September (-13%) and YTD (+4%) while the VW Golf (+24%) climbs up to #4 ahead of the Kia Cee’d (-15%) and Hyundai i30 (+12%).
