Finland August 2017: Toyota and Kia impress in market up 4.8%

New car sales in Finland are up 4.8% year-on-year in August to 9.551 registrations, meaning the year-to-date tally is now only down 0.2% to 81.867 units. Toyota towers over the brands ranking thanks to sales up 26% to 13.4% share while Volkswagen struggles at -12% to 9.7%, ahead of Skoda (+3%). Kia soars 25% to #4 and 7.9% share vs. 6.1% year-to-date. Mercedes (+18%), Audi (+32%) and Volvo (+34%) also impress in the Top 10 whereas Opel (-13%) and Ford (-26%) are in difficulty. Further down, BMW (+29%), Suzuki (+42%), Seat (+55%), Land Rover (+55%), Mini (+59%), Fiat (+75%), Dacia (+78%), Renault (+81%), Lexus (+107%) and Porsche (+140%) all posting spectacular results. Model-wise, the Skoda Octavia remains in the lead despite a 11% drop, followed by the Nissan Qashqai (+24%) and Toyota Yaris (+73%). The Kia Rio (#5) and Cee’d (#8) evolve way above their respective YTD levels of #11 and #22. The Volvo XC60 is up 197%, the Mercedes E and C-Class both up 39% and the Renault Clio up 342%.
