New car sales in Argentina continue to gallop ahead with July up 26% year-on-year to 78.025 registrations and the year-to-date tally up a whopping 32% to 519.791 units. For the first time this year, Renault takes control of the brands ranking thanks to deliveries up 30% to 15% share, a full two percentage points above its YTD level. Volkswagen (+22%) is knocked down to 2nd place, Ford (+18%) is up one spot on June to #3 and Chevrolet (+6%) is down two to #4. Inside the Top 10, Honda (+101%), Citroen (+57%), Peugeot (+33%), Mercedes (+32%) and Fiat (+28%) all beat the market. Further down, the manufacturers advancing faster than the market are numerous. Among them, Lifan (+683%), DS (+315%), Volvo (+178%), Jeep (+127%), Chery (+75%), Iveco (+64%) and Audi (+54%) fare particularly well.
In the models ranking, the VW Gol (+58%), leader year-to-date, edges back above the Renault Sandero (+145%), leader in June, by just 32 units. The Toyota Hilux (+1%) rounds up the podium and sees its market share suffer significantly compared to a year ago. The Peugeot 208 (+64%) and Ford Ka (+49%) are the only other nameplates beating the market inside the Top 10. The Renault Duster Oroch pickup shoots up 109% year-on-year and 11 spots on June to end the month at #11, only 102 units from a first-ever Top 10 ranking in Argentina – and the world. This performance enables the Oroch to overtake the Duster year-to-date at 9.126 units (_151%) vs. 8.921 (+63%). The Fiat Mobi advances five spots on last month to #15 and the Toro is down 4 to #21: these two nameplates haven’t been met with the same success as in Brazil so far. The Nissan Kicks lands directly at #74 for its first month on sale in the country.
