New car sales in Belarus are up a very solid 13% year-on-year over the First Half of 2017 to 13.591 registrations. Market leader Renault tightens its grip on the sales charts thanks to sales up 26% to hit 33.1% share vs. 29.6% a year ago. Volkswagen (+4%) is letting itself distanced and now only accounts for less than half the sales of Renault at 15.8% share. Lada is enjoying a revival with deliveries up 23% to 9.9% share, ahead of Skoda (-20%) and Nissan (-18%) both in great difficulty. In contrast, Mazda (+56%), Kia (+79%), Hyundai (+91%) and most impressively BMW (+278%) surge ahead. Chinese manufacturer Geely is having a second try at the Belorussian market and so far it’s working: it lands directly at #12 with 1.4% share.

Although the VW Polo holds onto the models pole position like dear life despite a 4% drop but could see its ranking threatened by the Renault Duster by the time the year comes to an end, the Top 5 is the property of Renault, with the French manufacturer managing to place four nameplates in there: below the Duster (+15%) we find the Sandero (-9% and 87% Stepway), the new Kaptur leaping to a fantastic 4th place and the Logan (-10%). The Kia Sportage jumps 238% from #19 to #7, the Nissan Qashqai is up 36%, the GAZ Next up 42%, the VW Tiguan up 57%, Nissan X-Trail up 54% and the Renault Master up 68%. The Geely Emgrand X7 makes a noticed appearance at #25.
