Vietnamese new vehicle sales are down 11% year-on-year in May to 23.232 registrations, pulling the year-to-date total into negative territory at -1.4% to 109.903 units. Thaco-Kia remains the most popular manufacturer in the country despite sales down 17% to 6.123 and 26.4% share, but only 2.075 of these are passenger cars which would place Kia 4th. Toyota soars 20% to 22.2% share, distancing Ford (+6%), Mazda (-16%) and Chevrolet (+39%). After being outsold by the Ford Ranger last month, the Toyota Vios (+65%) and Fortuner (+37%) reclaim the top two spots they hold year-to-date. The Ranger is knocked down to third place but improves 21% with the Kia Morning (+8%) and Toyota Innova (+14%) rounding up a Top 6 all in positive. Notice also the Chevrolet Colorado up 222% to #14.
