UK nations May 2017: Mercedes C-Class ranks high in England

Thanks to SMMT we can now share with you the Top 10 best-sellers for each UK nation in May. Keep in mind this is only a zoom in by nation, all sales figures are already included in the UK update. The overall UK market is down 8.6% but only one nation does better than this: England, down 7.6% to 161.619 registrations or 87% of the UK tally for May. Northern Ireland (-9.4%), Wales (-12.9%) and Scotland (-16.9%) all fall faster than the overall UK market this month and are all in negative year-to-date. England on the other hand is stable at 996.432 units so far in 2017 vs. 996.268 over the same period last year.
The Renault Kadjar is now #10 year-to-date in Northern Ireland.
The Ford Fiesta tops three out of four nations this month, with the VW Golf reclaiming the top spot it holds year-to-date in Northern Ireland. In England, the Mercedes C-Class is up to #5 instead of #8 overall in the UK and the Mercedes A-Class is up to #9 vs. #10. In Northern Ireland, Renault places the Kadjar at #7, the Captur at #9 and the Clio at #10, with the Kadjar breaking into the year-to-date Top 10. The Hyundai Tucson is down one spot on last month to #2. In Scotland, the Ford Fiesta is #1 for the firs time since last February with the Vauxhall Corsa down to #3 but still faraway leader year-to-date. The Renault Clio is strong at #5 and the Hyundai Tucson makes a rare appearance inside Top 10 at #10. Finally in Wales, the VW Polo shoots up to #2 and now rank #4 year-to-date, while the Dacia Sandero (#7) and Vauxhall Mokka X (#8) remain strong.
