Pakistan March-April 2017: Honda engine of growth

Honda sales are up 48% in Pakistan so far this year.

Thanks to PAMA we can share with you sales of locally-produced light vehicles in Pakistan for the March-April period. In March, the market is up 16.6% year-on-year to 20.505 units, with Suzuki up 15% to 50.6% share, Toyota up 3% to 28.9% and Honda up 44% to 18.5%. The Toyota Corolla remains in the lead but drops 2% whereas the Suzuki Mehran is up 30%, the Honda Civic up an estimated 164% and the Suzuki WagonR up 113%. Further down the ranking, the Toyota Fortuner is up 305%.

In April, sales of Pakistan-made light vehicles slow down their growth at +6.6% to 18.329 units, leading to a year-to-date tally up 10% to 79.404. This time market leader Suzuki goes against the grain at -2% to a round 50% share, Toyota gains a meagre 3% to 30.8% and once again the engine of Pakistani growth comes from Honda up 47% to 19.2% share. The Toyota Corolla remains the best-selling nameplate in the country despite a 2% drop, followed by the Suzuki Mehran up 20% and the Honda Civic up an estimated 110%. The Suzuki WagonR continues to impress at +60% in 5th place overall as does the Toyota Fortuner up 253%. The Honda BR-V lands at #10.
