Kazakhstan January 2017: Lada 4×4 and GAZ Gazelle in the lead

Thanks to our partnership with autoconsulting.kz, we can share with you today official data for the Kazakh new car market, but unfortunately the news aren’t great: sales continue to crash down 32% year-on-year in January to just 2.466 units. Leader in 2016, Toyota confirm its domination but with a meagre 8 units advantage over Lada at 403 sales and 16.3% vs 395 and 16%. Ravon, the replacement brand for UZ-Daewoo, climbs up to #6 vs. #19 over the Full Year 2016, with other great performers including Lifan up from #24 in FY16 to #14, Mercedes up from #27 to #18 and Man up from #45 to #22.

The antediluvian Lada 4×4 (aka Niva outside of the ex-USSR countries) is the surprise leader this month in Kazakhstan with 194 sales and 7.9% share, distancing the GAZ Gazelle at 164 and 6.7%. The Lada Granta rounds up the podium, distancing the Ravon Nexia R3 (formerly known as UZ-Daewoo Nexia), Renault Duster, Toyota Camry – leader over the Full Year 2016 – and the Toyota RAV4. Notice also the Hyundai Creta leaping up 12 spots to #9, the Chevrolet Malibu up to #18 vs. #102 in FY16 and the Lada XRAY making its very first appearance in the Kazakh sales charts at #61.
The GAZ Gazelle ranks #2 overall in Kazakhstan in January.
