Thanks to our partnership with Lightstone and NAAMSA we can share with you today and for the third year running official registrations data for Lesotho, a landlocked country surrounded by South Africa and home to two million inhabitants. Toyota reigns supreme in the brands ranking, followed by Ford like in 2015 just as Nissan creeps up one spot on last year to land on the podium. Isuzu is up two to #4, Volkswagen is stable at #5 and Mazda up four to #6, all bypassing Chevrolet down a depressing four ranks to #7. Hyundai and Land Rover both break into the Top 10.
The Toyota Hilux is the best-selling vehicle in Lesotho in 2016.
Model-wise, the Toyota Hilux remains head and shoulders above the competition, selling 3.8 times more than the #2, the Ford Ranger, despite dropping 21% while the Ranger is up 19%. The Toyota Fortuner soars 35% thanks to the new generation to land on the podium, knocking the Toyota Etios (-17%) and Corolla (-37%) down one spot each. The Isuzu KB, Nissan NP200 and NP300 return into the Top 10 this year. In the passenger cars aisle, Toyota monopolises the Top 5 with the Corolla Quest and Prado added onto the Fortuner, Etios and Corolla, while the VW Polo and Polo Vivo return inside the Top 10.
