Argentina January 2017: Renault Sandero leads passenger cars for 1st time
The Renault Sandero ranks 2nd overall in Argentina below the Toyota Hilux.

The Argentinean new car market takes off in January: up a staggering 63% year-on-year to 92.945 registrations. Volkswagen holds onto the brands pole position it held last year with sales up 70% to 15.4% share, ahead of Ford (+54%) with Renault tripling its sales year-on-year to 11.121 and 12% share, distancing Chevrolet (+28%), Toyota (+50%) and Peugeot (+65%). Some manufacturers manage to frankly outpace the market such as Audi (+166%), Volvo (+181%), Honda (+212%), Kia (+264%), Hyundai (+424%), BMW (+791%) and Jeep (+3576%).
The Peugeot 2008 breaks into the Argentinian Top 20 for the first time this month.
Model-wise, the Toyota Hilux remains the best-selling vehicle in the country with 4.333 sales (+74%) but the Renault Sandero takes the lead of passenger car sales for the very first time thanks to a spectacular 706% year-on-year surge to 3.355 units, only 10 sales above the Toyota Etios (+48%) and 61 above the VW Gol (+91%). The Peugeot 208 (+61%), Ford Focus (+31%) and Chevrolet Onix (+137%) follow, with the Chevrolet Prisma (+135%), Peugeot Partner (+106%), Renault Duster (+236%), Chevrolet Cruze (+511%), Honda HR-V (+150%) and Renault Logan (+818%) lodging the biggest gains in the Top 30. Among recent launches (<12 months), the Ford Ka leads the way at #11, followed by the Peugeot 2008 (#19), Fiat Toro (#23), Renault Duster Oroch (#27) and Fiat Mobi (#28).
