Good news for once coming from new car sales in New Caledonia, an overseas French territory located north east of Australia: up 4% year-on-year to 742 registrations, yet the year-to-date tally remains resolutely in negative at -14% to 7.224 registrations. Dacia brilliantly takes the lead of the brands ranking for the second time this year after last August thanks to sales surging 46% year-on-year to 92 and 12.4% share. The low-cost French-Romanian brand distances traditional leader Ford at 11.1% (+21%), Toyota at 9.6% (-11%) and Peugeot at 8.6% (+25%). Other great performers this month include Kia (+30%), Isuzu (+50%), Suzuki (+30%), Mazda (+55%) and Mercedes (+78%). Model-wise, the Dacia Duster reclaims the pole position it holds year-to-date, selling 49 units for a 6.6% market share this month ahead of four consecutive pickup trucks: the Ford Ranger, Isuzu D-Max, Toyota Hilux and Kia K2700. The Dacia Sandero book-ends them all at #6, meaning Dacia has the top two best-selling passenger cars in New Caledonia this month. The Toyota RAV4 is up to #10, the Suzuki Vitara up to #19 and the Hyundai Creta at #20.
