Dutch new car sales falter down 22% year-on-year in October as the imminence of an end to tax benefits for green cars created a higher comparison base in October 2015. Year-to-date sales are down 7% to 315.328. Volkswagen (-32%), Renault (+16%) and Peugeot (-48%) overtake last month’s leader Opel (+31%) and Renault is back above Opel year-to-date to #2. Ford (-23%), Citroen (-26%), Suzuki (-33%), Toyota (-40%) and Volvo (-48%) struggle while Smart (+22%), Honda (+31%) and Jaguar (+16%) are the only other manufacturers to gain ground in the Top 30. The Opel Astra nudges up one spot to take the lead of the models ranking for the first time for this generation with 902 sales and 3% share, just 7 units above the VW Polo (+8%) and 29 above the Renault Clio (+1). The VW Golf (#4) remains the best-seller year-to-date and the VW Up (#5) makes it three Volkswagens in the Top 5 this month. Other strong performers include the Peugeot 2008 (#11), Volvo V40 (#13), Renault Megane (#14) and Renault Kadjar (#20). Among recent launches, notice the Renault Talisman at #35 (+11), Kia Niro at #55 and Volvo V90 at #94.
