New car sales in Malaysia are down 6% year-on-year in September to 48.191 units, pulling the year-to-date tally down 14% to 418.433 registrations. Perodua continues to ignore the overall gloom thanks to the new Bezza with sales up 18% to 35.6% market share. In fact, removing Perodua from the Malaysian market brings the decline to a ghastly -15%. Honda manages to post stable sales at 15.6% share, remaining above Proton (-31%) and Toyota (-28%) both in freefall. Nissan (-17%) rounds up the Top 5 above Mercedes (+17%) and Isuzu (+7%) both posting brilliant gains. Other great performers include BMW (+12%), Kia (+78%), Subaru (+94%), Renault (+155%), Chery (+413%) and JAC (+463%).
