Chile October 2016: Hyundai and Kia dominant

Another very dynamic month for the Chilean new car market at +12% year-on-year in October to 25.552 registrations, lifting the year-to-date tally up 7% to 245.158. New car sales in Chile have now gained ground year-on-year for 9 of the first 10 months of 2016. Market leader Hyundai holds onto the pole position by the skin of its teeth at 2.533 sales and 9.9% share vs. 2.522 for Kia. Chevrolet is up 31% to #3 with 9.5% share, distancing Nissan, Toyota and Suzuki. Ford surges 58% to #7, Mercedes is up 80%, Fiat up 84% and Chrysler Group up 51%, Chinese manufacturers represent 8.6% of the market vs. 8.9% year-to-date, they are led by JAC (+36%), Great Wall Group (+7%), Chery (-10%), Changan (+27%) and Dongfeng (+21%).
