Austria October 2016: Skoda and Hyundai shine in market up 4%

The Austrian new car market is up 4% year-on-year in October to 26.273 registrations, a slightly lower growth rate than year-to-date at +6% to 278.451 units. Market leader Volkswagen (-7%), Renault (-3%) and Ford (-4%) are the only carmakers losing ground in the Top 10, reversely both Skoda (#2) and Hyundai (#3) gain 26%, Fiat is up 32% to #8 and Seat up 24% to #10. Further down, Mitsubishi (+15%), Toyota (+18%), Alfa Romeo (+63%), Lexus (+72%), Jaguar (+230%) and Maserati (+950%) make themselves noticed. Model-wise, the VW Golf retains the crown despite a 12% slip, just as the VW Tiguan (+73%), Skoda Fabia (+72%) and Hyundai i20 (+62%) all sign gargantuan year-on-year improvements. The Hyundai Tucson remains strong at #6, the Seat Ibiza is up 50% to #11, the Fiat Panda up 48% to #14, Audi Q3 up 88% to #15, Hyundai i10 up 300% to #16 and the BMW X1 surges 182% to #17. Among recent launches (<12 months), the Seat Ateca is now the most popular, gaining 7 spots on September to #31 and bypassing the Fiat Tipo (#39), while the Alfa Romeo Giulia confirms its is a Top 100 ranker in Austria (#87), distancing the Renault Talisman (#97), Jaguar F-Pace (#103) and Hyundai Ioniq up 87 ranks to #109.
