Poland September 2016: Skoda (+33%), Mercedes (+49%) outpace market up 17%

The Polish new car market is up another mammoth 17.2% year-on-year in September to 37.395 units including LCVs, lifting the year-to-date tally up 17.6% to 347.255. Skoda almost doubles the market growth rate at +33% to 4.288 sales and 11.5% share, distancing Volkswagen at 10% (+26%), Toyota at 8% (+14%) and Ford at 7.7% (+11%). BMW (+18%), Opel (+21%), Dacia (+21%), Renault (+25%) and Mercedes (+49%) all beat the market but Hyundai (-3%), Nissan (-4%) and Peugeot (-4%) are in negative. Model-wise, the Skoda Octavia surges 54% year-on-year to cement its leadership ahead of the Skoda Fabia (+14%), Opel Astra (+35%) and Nissan Qashqai (+15%). The Toyota Yaris (+24%), Dacia Duster (+37%), Skoda Superb (+60%), Opel Corsa (+79%), Hyundai Tucson (+81%), VW Tiguan (+89%) and Toyota Corolla (+176%) post strong gains with the Ford B-Max (#20), Skoda Citigo (#24) and Renault Megane (+28%) reappear inside the Top 30.
