The Norwegian new car market is up by a solid 11.5% year-on-year to 13.854 units, lifting the year-to-date tally up 3.6% to 115.875. The Top 5 best-selling brands all manage to outpace an already dynamic market: Volkswagen (+18%) leads the way at 15% share ahead of Toyota at 13.2% (+19%), BMW at 8.6% (+54%) and Mercedes at 6.4% (+32%), but the performer of the month is Tesla. The new Model X soars to 2nd place overall in the models ranking thanks to 601 deliveries and 4.3% share, accounting for 71% of the brand’s total this month. The Model X is starting to replicate the success of the Model S at the start of its career: it ranked #1 in Norway in September 2013, December 2013 and March 2014 and also gets a boost this month at +94% to #14. Below the Model X, the RAV4 is up 85%, the BMW i3 up 96%, the Mitsubishi Outlander up 105% and the VW Tiguan up 384% thanks to the new model. Further down, the Kia Niro is up 10 spots on last month to #27, the Hyundai Ioniq up 115 to #45 and the Jaguar F-Pace up 12 to #83.
