Finland July 2016: Opel Astra teases Skoda Octavia for first place

The Opel Astra ranks 2nd overall in Finland in July.

The Finnish new car market is down 4.5% year-on-year in July to 8.222 registrations, leading to a year-to-date tally up 12% to 72.919. Volkswagen remains in the lead despite a 27% freefall to 871 units and 10.6% share, ahead of Skoda at 10% (+2%), Ford at 9.9% (+12%) and Toyota at 9.1% (-12%). Opel shoots up 44% to 5th place, Honda is up 99%, Mazda up 19%, Suzuki up 71% and Jaguar up 800%. In the models ranking, the Skoda Octavia holds onto the pole position in spite of a 14% drop, with the Opel Astra (+252%) breathing on its neck. The Nissan Qashqai (-6%) rounds up the podium, ahead of the Ford Focus (+43%) while the VW Golf (-42%) and Passat (-45%) stumble. The Toyota Auris (+95%), Skoda Superb (+317%) and Honda Civic (+79%) shine on the other hand.
