Uruguay June 2016: Fiat and Renault shine in market down 11%

The Uruguayan new car market is down 11% year-on-year in June to 3.603 registrations, pulling the year-to-date tally halfway through 2016 down 20% to 20.277 units. Thanks to sales almost doubling at +93% on June 2015, Fiat remains the most popular manufacturer in the country with 16.2% of the market, distancing Volkswagen at 14.2% (-4%) while Renault rounds up the podium with volumes up 48% to 8.9% share. Chevrolet (-45%), Nissan (-24%) and Suzuki (-68%) follow but all falter. On the other hand, BYD (+52%), Toyota (+55%), Ford (+28%), Lifan (+25%), Jeep (+7000%) and Great Wall (+41%) all take off.
