Portugal June 2016: Renault Clio soars to 8.1% share

The Portuguese new car market gains a robust 11% year-on-year in June to 23.369 registrations, lifting its half-year tally up 18% to 118.626 units. Renault remains master in command thanks to volumes far outpacing the market at +35% to 3.404 for a 14.6% share vs. 8.7% for Peugeot (+1%) and 7.9% for Volkswagen (-11%). Mercedes (+41%), Volvo (+46%), Mazda (+52%) Honda (+59%), Dacia (+61%) and Kia (+67%) also impress while Alfa Romeo shoots up 253% thanks to the arrival of the Giulia (#117). In the models ranking, the Renault Clio soars to 8.1% share thanks to deliveries up 43% to 1.888, more than double the level of its direct followers the Peugeot 208 (863), VW Polo (782) and Seat Ibiza (770) all losing market share vs. a year ago. The Renault Captur (+42%), Mercedes A-Class (+34%), Opel Astra (+22%) and Peugeot 2008 (+27%) are the other great performers atop the sales charts. Notice also the Fiat Tipo up 48 spots on May to #29 and the arrivals of the Ford Edge (#154) and Suzuki Baleno (#184).
