Things are going in the right direction for new light vehicle sales in Chile, up 4% year-on-year in June to 23.636 registrations, lifting the year-to-date tally up 7% to 140.147 units halfway through 2016. After Hyundai overtook perennial market leader Chevrolet in the year-to-date order last month, it is now the turn of sister brand Kia to do so, relegating Chevy to third spot overall. The June charts reflect this new order: Hyundai leads with 2.262 sales (+11%) above Kia at 2.204 (-8%) and Chevrolet at 2.155 (-5%). Nissan (+23%), Peugeot (+49%), Volkswagen (+93%), Fiat (+46%), Citroen (+30%) and Mercedes (+66%) shine but Mitsubishi (-20%), Ssangyong (-25%) and Subaru (-18%) struggle. At #18, the Great Wall Group (including Haval) leads Chinese manufacturers that add up to 8.1% share in June vs. 7.7% so far this year.
