Taiwan May 2016: Podium 100% Toyota in market up 10%
The Luxgen S3 has already hit Taiwanese dealerships after its unveiling in Beijing.

The Taiwanese new car market is up 10% year-on-year in May to 37.878 registrations, lifting the year-to-date total back into positive territory at +2.5% to 179.458 units. Toyota is once again master in command with 10.786 sales and 28.5% share, well above Mitsubishi/CMC at 11.9% (+25%) and Nissan/Infiniti at 10.6% (+5%). Mercedes is up 16% in 5th place, Mazda up 41% in 7th position and Hyundai up 57% to #9. Local manufacturer Luxgen remains inside its home Top 10 at #10 with 1.070 sales.
The Mercedes GLE is now one of Taiwan’s 50 best-selling nameplates.
Model-wise, the Corolla dominates a podium 100% Toyota ahead of the Yaris and Wish. The CMC Veryca continues to sell at much higher rates than last year at +34% year-on-year and #4 in May. The RAV4 (#5) and Vios (#7) make it five Toyotas in the Top 7. The all-new Hyundai Tucson lands at #17 with 669 sales, the Mercedes GLE breaks into the Top 50 at #42 and two new Luxgen nameplates hit Taiwanese dealerships: the S3 sedan (42 sales) and the V7 Turbo MPV (7 units).
