Poland May 2016: Octavia #1, Astra and Duster strong

The Polish new car market continues to evolve a clear notch above its 2015 level, with May volumes up another 21% to 37.928 units including Light Commercials, leading to a year-to-date total up 17% to 196.345. Skoda follows the market this month at +20% to 4.404 deliveries for a 11.6% market share, distancing Volkswagen at 9.7% (+19%), Opel at 8.5% (+32%) and Toyota at 7.9% (+30%). Dacia (+61%) and Mazda (+45%) post the largest year-on-year gains in the Top 15. Over in the models aisle, the Skoda Octavia continues to dominate with 1.434 sales (+18%) while in 2nd place the Opel Astra (+49%) overtakes the Skoda Fabia (+19%) at 1.255 units vs. 1.248, distancing the VW Golf (+4%), Toyota Yaris (+43%) and a Dacia Duster in outstanding form: up 89% to 774 deliveries at #6. Notice also the Nissan Qashqai up 60% to #15, the Skoda Superb up 123% to #18 and the Dacia Sandero up a further 9 spots on April to #24 vs. #45 year-to-date. Finally, the Mazda CX-3 (#36) and Suzuki Baleno (#41) both make their very first appearance among Poland’s Top 50 best-sellers.
