Laos Q1 2016: Toyota Hilux #1, Daehan trucks > 20% (BSCB Exclusive)
The Toyota Hilux holds 26.7% of the Laos vehicle market in 2016.

10.577 new vehicles found a buyer in Laos over the first Quarter of 2016, with Toyota still holding the lion’s share of the market at 41% thanks to 4.339 sales. Local manufacturer Daehan is up to 21.9% share vs. 17.6% over the FY2015 while Chinese carmaker Dongfeng leaps onto the podium at 4.2% share, knocking Hyundai out and placing its entire range within the Top 9 best-selling models. Nissan, Chevrolet and Chery follow. Other Chinese reps doing strong in Laos include BYD (#10), JAC (#15), Geely (#16) and Foton (#20). Haval makes its appearance in the ranking at #30 with 3 units sold. All-in-all Chinese manufacturers hold a 12.1% share in Laos so far in 2016.
Model-wise, the Toyota Hilux remains ultra-dominant, selling more than any brand in the market bar Toyota at 26.7% share despite dropping slightly from the 28.5% it commended in FY15. The Toyota Hiace follows and breaks the 10% share barrier, with the Daehan D-100 and Super-1 rounding up the Top 4. The Dongfeng Pickup remains inside the Top 5 and improves its share to 4%. Notice also the Chery QQ at #3, the JAC Tongye at #16, the BYD F0 at #25 and the Hyundai Creta landing directly at #26.
