Greece May 2016: Nissan, Mercedes shine in market up 49%

The Greek new car market surges 49% year-on-year in May to 13.489 registrations, lifting the year-to-date total up 13% to 38.550 units. Nissan is the most popular manufacturer in the country for the second time in the past three months thanks to sales up 57% to 1.520 and 11.3% share, comfortably distancing Toyota at 10.4% (+49%), Opel at 9.4% (+82%) and Volkswagen at 9.2% (+73%). Mercedes shoots up 167% to 6th place, BMW is up 129%, Seat up 123% and Jeep up 113%. The Top 6 best-selling models in the country all outpace the galloping market, led by the Toyota Yaris (+71%), Opel Corsa (+78%), Nissan Micra (+66%) and Peugeot 208 (+59%) as per the year-to-date order. The Mercedes A-Class multiplies its sales by 5 year-on-year to shoot up to 5th place overall, with the VW Golf (+143%), Opel Astra (+122%), Ford Focus (+234%) and Toyota Auris (+106%) all posting spectacular gains.
