Netherlands March 2016: Nissan Qashqai leads in market up 4%

After dropping 15% over the first two months of 2016, the Dutch new car market is still in a reshuffling process after income tax subsidies to eco-friendly cars were drop at the end of last year. Encouragingly, March sales are up 4% to 29.869 units yet first quarter volumes are still down by a large margin at -10% to 98.558 sales. Opel leads the brands asking this month thanks to deliveries up 14% to 3.062 for a very strong 10.3% market share, followed by Peugeot also very vigorous at +20% while Volkswagen tumbles down 26% to 2.376 sales and 8% share. Ford (+36%), BMW (+12%), Mercedes (+19%), Skoda (+40%) and most impressively Toyota (+110%) also shine inside the Top 10. Model-wise, the Nissan Qashqai leaps 16 spots on February to takes the lead ahead of the Ford Fiesta (+2), Peugeot 208 (+6) and 108 (-2) while Opel places the Corsa at #5 (+7) and the Karl at an excellent 6th place with 713 sales and 2.4% (+8). Still leader year-to-date, the Kia Picanto sinks to #47 this month.
