Iceland Full Year 2015: Toyota and Skoda Octavia best-sellers

The Skoda Octavia is the best-selling vehicle in Iceland in 2015.

After almost two years of absence, we welcome back Iceland on BSCB. 2015 was a very satisfying year for new car sales in Iceland, up 48% to 14.004 passenger car registrations. This is to be compared to just 2.223 at the worst of the global recession in 2009 and over 16.000 in 2007. This strong annual result has quite a lot to do with the renewal of the rental car fleet in the country to keep up with increased tourism. Toyota is the market leader once again with 2.368 sales, ahead of Volkswagen, Kia, Skoda and Suzuki. Model-wise, the Skoda Octavia remains the best-seller in the country with 4.9% market share, but its advantage over the VW Golf is only 21 units this year. The Toyota RAV4 and Yaris are also strong sellers in 2015 in Iceland. Note the sale of 75 Porsche, 48 Lexus and 19 Tesla in Iceland in 2015.
