UK nations January 2016: Vauxhall monopolises Scottish podium

The new generation Vauxhall Astra has finally landed in the UK.

After the overall UK Top 10 and thanks to SMMT we can now share with you the Top 10 best-sellers for each UK nation for January. As is often the case, England (+4%) is the engine of growth for the entire country and represents 85.5% of total UK sales this month. Scotland (+2%) and Wales (+0.4%) are also in positive, but Northern Ireland declines (-3%). The Ford Fiesta tops 3 out of 4 nations in January: England, Northern Ireland and Wales. In Scotland, Vauxhall manages a historical 1-2-3, the first since BSCB has started following UK nations two years ago: the Corsa leads the way with 754 sales, follow by the Mokka at 498 and the Astra at 447.

Vauxhall Viva

Further down, the Vauxhall Viva ranks #8, lodging its first-ever Scottish Top 10 ranking and the second in any UK nation after breaking into the Welsh Top 10 last October. Other heroes this month include the Hyundai Tucson #3 in Northern Ireland, the Dacia Sandero #7 in Scotland and Wales, Renault Captur #7 in Northern Ireland, Ford Ecosport #9 in Wales, Mercedes C-Class up to #8 in England vs. #10 in the UK and the Ford C-Max posting a rare Top 10 ranking at #10 in Wales.
