After surging by 36% in 2014, new vehicle sales in Namibia are down 3% this year to 21.222 units. Thanks to NAAMSA, for the 2nd year running we have access to detailed sales data here, with Toyota leading the overall brands ranking (PC+LCV) again, above Volkswagen, Nissan, Ford and Chevrolet like in 2014. Hyundai gains 3 spots to #7, Great Wall is down two to #9 and Mazda breaks into the Top 10. Note Mercedes was removed from the study due to its irregular sales reporting.
The Toyota Land Cruiser Pickup climbs to #5 in Namibia this year.
The Toyota Hilux is the best-selling nameplate in Namibia this year also, crossing the 20% market share mark at 20.1% thanks to 4.259 units sold. That’s almost four times the amount of the 2nd most popular vehicle: the Ford Ranger (1.093) while the Nissan Hardbody (1.013) makes the podium 100% pickups. The VW Polo Vivo (+66%) overtakes the Toyota Etios (down 39% to #3) to become Namibia’s favourite passenger car, with the Toyota Corolla (+37%) taking the 2nd spot. The Toyota Land Cruiser Pickup is up two ranks to #5 overall, while the VW Jetta (#7), Toyota RAV4 (#8) and Ford Ecosport (#9) progress in the PC ranking.
