The Lebanese new car market is up a satisfying 5% year-on-year in 2015 to 55.399 registrations, and local tastes are slowly but surely retreating from Koran fares here: Toyota shoots up 31% to 14,694 sales and 26.5% share vs. 21.1% a year ago and Nissan is up 5% to 6.713 and 12.1% whereas Kia drops 17% to 8.459 and 15.3% and Hyundai implodes at -39% to just 6.184 deliveries and 11.2% share vs. 19.2% last year. Notice also Chevrolet up 17%, Renault up 18%, BMW up 42%, Land Rover up 46%, Ford up 68% and Suzuki up a whopping 105%.

Mitsubishi Lancer EX Lebanon 2015Lebanese Mitsubishi Lancer EX sales shoot up 133% year-on-year in 2015.

The models ranking is completely reshuffled compared to a year ago. In 2014 the sals charts were clearly dominated by the Hyundai i10 at 11.6% share and the Kia Picanto at 7.9%. But it’s a completely different story this year: the Toyota Yaris leaps 92% to take the overall lead with 4.155 deliveries and 7.5% share, and is followed by the Mitsubishi Lancer EX shooting up 133% and 10 spots to 3.074 units and 5.5%, in line with the nameplate’s fantastic year in the whole of the Middle East. The Toyota Land Cruiser also more than double its volumes year-on-year (+102%), landing at a fantastic 4th place. On the other hand the Kia Picanto is down 30% to #3 and the Hyundai i10 down 55% to #5.

Toyota Land Cruiser Lebanon 2015The Toyota Land Cruiser is up 102% to 4th place overall.

Further down, notice the Nissan Patrol up 74% to #9, the Kia Cerato up 89% to #13, Nissan X-Trail up 108% to #16, the Renault Sandero up 211% to #18 and the Lexus LX up 99% to #26. Not many newcomers come trouble the top of the ladder, with the Suzuki Ciaz the most successful of them at a decidedly shy #80 and 115 units, above the Suzuki SX4 S-Cross at #100, the Suzuki Vitara at #107, Jaguar XE at #112 and Land Rover Discovery Sport at #117.
