Chile January 2016: Chevrolet down 18% but holds off Kia

The Chilean new car market hadn’t lodged a positive month since August 2014 (16 months), it is now done, with January sales up 7% year-on-year to 25.484 registrations. After topping the brands ranking for the 33rd consecutive year in 2015, Chevrolet confirms it is the most popular brand in Chile, but with sales down 18% to 2.483 and 9.7% share, the American manufacturer is only 47 units above Kia at 2.436 and 9.6% (+1%) while Hyundai is down 39% to 2.124. Below, Suzuki (+22%), Nissan (+40%), Toyota (+31%), Peugeot (+91%) and Ford (+38%) all display explosive growth, but none as much as Renault up 119% to #11.
