The Taiwanese new car market is struggling for the 2nd month in a row: after losing 27% in September it drops 7% in October to 31.956 registrations. The year-to-date total is stuck at -1% on 2014 to 343.230 units. Toyota keeps the lead but uncharacteristically freefalls 22% to less than a quarter of the market (24.9% share). Reversely, Mitsubishi/CMC gains 6% to 3.641 units and 11.4% market share, reclaiming the #2 spot year-to-date off Nissan/Infiniti, down 13% to 2.838 sales and 8.9% this month, while Mazda jumps up 3 spots to #5. Model-wise, the Toyota Corolla remains master in command with 9.9% share but the #2 is a surprise: the mini-truck CMC Veryca – dedicated to Taiwan – jumps four spots on September to #2 with 1.148 sales and 3.6%, after the Mitsubishi Delica hit #3 last month. The Ford Focus also shines at #3, as do the Mazda CX-5 at #9 vs. #21 year-to-date and the Honda Odyssey at #12 vs. #45.
