Spain October 2015: Peugeot leads, Hyundai Tucson up to #15

Spanish new car sales slow down their growth this month to just +6% yet deliver the best October score since 2009 at 80.675 registrations. The year-to-date total now stands at 869.725 units, up 21% on 2014 and here too the strongest result since 2009. Peugeot surprises and takes the lead of the brands ranking off Volkswagen thanks to sales up 23% to 6.561 for a 8.1% market share vs. 6.363 and 7.9% (+1%) for the German manufacturer. Renault (-15%) remains in third position above Opel, Seat, Citroen and Ford. Nissan surges 27%, Mercedes is up 29%, Mazda up 48%, Land Rover up 29%, Smart up 5-fold thanks to the arrival of the Forfour and a very warm welcome to the new gen Fortwo (+277% to #64), Suzuki up 147%, Jeep up 137% and Jaguar up 71%.
Peugeot is the most popular manufacturer in Spain this month.
Over in the models ranking, the Seat Leon cements its leadership thanks to sales up 19% to 2.465 and 3.1% share, above its little sister the Seat Ibiza at 2.169 and the VW Polo at 2.071, reproducing the year-to-date podium. Below the Dacia Sandero up two spots on September to #4 despite sales down 1%, the Peugeot 308 soars 37% to #5 overall vs. #12 year-to-date, partly justifying Peugeot’s pole position in the brands ranking along with the 208 up 45% to #8 and the 2008 up 48% to #12. The Opel Astra is up 44% to #7, the Hyundai Tucson is up a further 13 spots on last month to break into the Spanish Top 15 – becoming the brand’s best-seller in the country for only its 2nd full month of sales, the Renault Kadjar is up 30 to #25, the Nissan Pulsar up 26 to #35, the Mazda CX-3 is up 8 to #78, the Mercedes GLC up 23 to #90, Suzuki Vitara up 34 to #94 and the Honda HR-V up 25 to #110.
