The UAE new car market is up 1% year-on-year over the First Quarter of 2015 to 101.676 registrations. Toyota is the most popular manufacturer in the country once again thanks to 30.575 sales and 30.1% share, distancing Nissan (17.2%) while Mitsubishi shoots up to 12.4% share and rounds up the podium like in 2014. Hyundai (5.3%), BMW (4.7%) and Ford (4%) follow with Lexus at #8 and Land Rover at #10. Apart from the Toyota Hilux sovereign in pole position with 5.8% share, we witness a complete reshuffle in the models ranking: the Mitsubishi Lancer EX is up 3-fold year-on-year to jump to 2nd place overall thanks to 5.117 units sold for a 5% market share, a rare performance for a nameplate that hasn’t made significant waves in any country so far.
The Toyota Land Cruiser rounds up the podium like in 2014 with 4.663 sales and 4.6% share, the Nissan Patrol is up one spot and 25% to #4, the Mitsubishi Pajero up two and 24% to #5, the Nissan Sunny up 3 and 20% to #8, the BMW X5 is up a spectacular 211% year-on-year thanks to the new generation to brilliantly break into the UAE’s Top 10, the Mitsubishi L200 is up an even more impressive 324% to #14, the Hyundai Elantra up 158% to #17 and the Range Rover up 123% to #19.
