Moldova May 2015: UAZ Bukhanka jumps up to 2nd place

The antediluvian UAZ 3909 ranks 2nd in Moldova in May.

According to Central European market data specialists www.ceauto.co.hu, the Moldovan new car market is down a harsh 23% year-on-year in May to a round 300 registrations, pulling the year-to-date total down 28% to 1.402 units. No threat for the Dacia Logan in pole position with a majestic 11.3% market share, however the #2 spot is a surprise: the antediluvian UAZ 3909, in production since 1965 (that’s 50 continuous years), holds 4.7% of the market – granted, only 14 sales were enough to achieve this. It’s the first time the UAZ 3909 (aka Bukhanka, Russian for loaf of bread) makes its appearance in the Moldovan monthly Top 10 since BSCB started following this country two years ago. Notice also the BMW X5 up to a stunning 5th place with 4% share and now #10 year-to-date.
